WOW, I am impressed with that letter! I was thinking how REAL and HONEST you were being! So VERY UN_JW of you! I admire your courage and living through the few days it took to receive a reply or some sort of response! Did you get any? Would LOVE to know what your closest JW friends thought of it! If they dared to respond!

coolhandluke,
My husband is a former Marine drill instructor. Sometimes he goes to tell me an event that happened at work and out comes what I call his 'command voice' now add his very muscular build, now that is intimidating to some! I can envision wimpy guys peeing their pants, and women fainting when he does that. hee hee! I just put my hand up and lower it, he looks at me in the eye and I say 'can we use the 'in the car voice'? When we are in the truck, it reverberates off the glass... ouch! ha ha! He is a sweatie, wouldn't hurt a fly! (actually he can catch them with his bare hands)! Says he learned that in 3rd week of boot camp! He says he has to 'downplay' his strength so he won't scare the subs (sub contractors) and they might run away!
Just thought I would tell this little tale for a chuckle!

Honesty,
I know what you are talking about! I was told to use that non-aggressive voice when speaking, more sister-like!!! I was supposed to 'portray' the height of submission! Didn't work! But, when you have clients out there in the real world, it helps to keep your voice soft when dealing with tons of details while going over contracts and making selections for building a house. They suggest this to keep the customer and you from getting into heated discussions when they are not happy. It soothes the savage beast! ha ha! I did customer service for a large company for a while, that is where I got that experience.

does god listen to prayers?
by el jarocho mayor inwhen people pray does god listen?
does he care?
when prayers are "answered", is that proof of a divine being?

I am not sure if God listens. But since I was a little girl, I have talked to this entity that seems to hear me and give me what I need, sometimes not much more than that. I feel secure in that he or she listens to me. I think they call that faith!

What Are You Leaving For the Ones You Love?
by prophecor inas long as the internet is alive and well, so too are our words, thoughts and ideas.
even after we are dead and gone, places like this will house our thought and ideas until at least, the internet is no more, if not the end of this system of things.
are you leaving for your loved ones and others, a place for them to view your life, your words and your energies, as a means of keeping your spirit alive, even after you have daparted in death?

profector,
I'd want there to be a way for my wife to view my words in an instant. The internet will be in existence until the end of time
I suggest you write a book or at least a manuscript. If you have desires for your 'heritage' to continue beyond your life here on Earth, I strongly suggest you do NOT rely on a message board or anything BUT YOUR EXACT WORDS in your own handwriting to your loved ones.
Write a journal and start today! http://groups.msn.com/editorial/en-us/render/whatsnew/Journals.htm is one place you can start one online that is private. You can transfer your posts from here and put them there. BACK UP ON A CD to make sure you have preserved it. If you feel this way than it is WAY TOO IMPORTANT TO DELAY IN DOING SO! I have started one and it is nice to have a place to go and put things down in writing!

NoMoreMeetings,
Thank you for posting here! I was encouraged by your post! I am so sorry for your loss. I have a friend who lost her nephew from that dreaded killer. It has been 10 years for her. I had a son who was diagnosed with similar symptoms and we had to go through all the tests, we were lucky (if that is the right word) that it turned out to be nothing serious. My friend who's nephew died and I were changed forever when Chris died. We held on to our boys with a vengence to keep them living! I feel for you and your loss!
How wonderful that you are meeting with others so they can learn what the JW brainwashing is all about! What wonderful work you are in! I am moved by that! WOW, that is soooooo wonderful!
Any SUGGESTIONS? Like what is the best way to HELP those in mental anguish here? I know all cases are different and no blanket statement can cover all. I think the general idea here is to LISTEN and be compassionate.

Exit from the JWs
by KAYTEE inmy exit from the jws, was roughly as follows-
our final letter to the congregation was in the form of a resignation.
we made at least 15 to 20 copies and sent the majority of them to so-called friends, 2 days later we sent the original to the body of elders.

Not DA'd, Not DF'd - but pretty much Disowned...
by Ingenuous ini just came from what will probably be the last conversation i'll ever have with my father.
earlier in the day, i'd talked to my mom and she asked what i was up to - translated "what are you doing with yourself since you aren't going to meetings or out in service?
" i told her i'd been discussing the bible with an informal group of people and reading older wts literature.

Ingenuous,
You have ONE GREAT thing going for you, well actually TWO! You KNOW WHY you will be DAd! Most of us were DAd or shunned and didn't know why! Some because they were sick and couldn't come to the meetings, or had to pay bills take care of family, etc. At least you KNOW WHY this is happening to you! And the 2nd is YOU JUST SURPASSED YOUR PARENTS WITH YOUR WISDOM! They hate that! When I passed mine, they hated it and fought like hell, and it had nothing to do with the JWs. So, this is the right of passage anyway for any independent thinker! What did they say about how Jesus was accepted in his own home town? 'Savior of whattttt?' Anyone who thinks differently than his/her parents in ANY household will have to butt heads eventually! YOU are BLESSED with having your own place! That is awesome!
AND IT IS FOR EXAMINING YOUR LIFE! How WONDERFUL! You are saving your soul and finding your way in life! Hooray for you! I read your post and thought it was wonderful. I read in every word how strong of an individual you are and how much love you have for LIFE! Just put down the sword, get some rest, eat some food, and do nothing. Let it all calm down. Avoid the phone if you have to. I shut off my ringer, and check messages during the day, that way I can rest when I NEED IT, not just when there is a 'lull' in the noise.
